Tim-bor Wood Preservative
Tim-bor® Professional Wood Preservative by Sashco®
Long-Lasting Protection Against Wood Rot and Insects
Tim-bor® by Sashco® is a borate-based wood preservative designed to protect your logs from wood rot and wood-boring insects. Highly effective, Tim-bor® prevents damage from wet, dry, and brown rot, and defends against termites, house borers, powderpost beetles, and carpenter ants.
This preservative is not a stain additive; to work effectively, Tim-bor® must be mixed with water and applied directly to bare wood before final staining. It can be brushed, sprayed, or dipped to penetrate the wood and create a protective barrier.
Derived from refined Borax, Tim-bor® is odorless, colorless, and safe for people and pets, with no impact on the strength of the wood. When applied correctly, Tim-bor® offers years of lasting protection.
Available Sizes and Application
- Sizes: Tim-bor® comes in two sizes—a 25 lb bag for large projects (packaged in a 6-gallon pail for easy mixing) and 1.5 lb packets for smaller applications.
- Mixing: Mix one pound of Tim-bor® with one gallon of water, which covers up to 150 sq. ft.
- Application: Apply a second coat within 24 hours of the first. Pay extra attention to log ends and check cracks, as these areas are more vulnerable.
Preparation & Staining Guidelines Ensure the wood surface is clean and free of dust, dirt, and any previous coatings that could impede Tim-bor® penetration. Wait 48 hours after treatment before applying the final stain, but do not delay too long, as Tim-bor® can leach out if left unstained. For best results, use a water-repelling stain to lock in the preservative.
Choose Tim-bor® by Sashco® for reliable, long-term protection against rot and insects—perfect for keeping your log home in pristine condition.
